Hardware Requirements

  1. Raspberry Pi (any Pi version will work)
  2. Quality Power Supply for your Raspberry Pi
  3. MicroSD Card for the Pi Board
  4. Type C cable which fits the Ender 3 S1 Pro
  5. Laptop or PC with a screen and keyboard is required for accessing and configuring the software components​​
  6. KlipperScreen (Optional)
  7. USB Webcam (optional) - Useful for monitoring your printer remotely or using Obico's AI failure detection

Software Requirements

  1. Raspberry Pi Imager: For setting up the Raspberry Pi's operating system
  2. MainsailOS or FluiddPi: User interface to communicate with your Klipper 3D printer
  3. Putty: A tool for SSH (Secure Shell) access to your Raspberry Pi.
  4. WinSCP (Windows Secure Copy): Facilitates the transfer of files between your PC and the Raspberry Pi.
  5. Notepad++ or Similar Text Editor: Essential for editing configuration files.

Verify CPU

You can check what kind of chip your printer is using by removing the bottom cover of the printer, and checking the CPU on your board:

For this guide, you should have the STM32F401 CPU. If your printer has the STM32F103 chip, you can follow the Ender 3 S1 Klipper Guide, and use the config from this S1 Pro guide.

Before you begin

Please note that installing Klipper on the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro requires some experience with 3D printers and hardware. This is not a trivial task for beginners, and you may break your printer during the process. If you don’t feel comfortable doing this, then keep the stock firmware.

Read the full guide carefully and install Klipper on Ender 3 S1 Pro only after you properly understood all the steps involved. If you have questions before starting, leave a comment and wait for a reply.

The configuration file shared in this article is made for the stock Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro. It’s also worth noting that the stock touchscreen will not work anymore, and you will need to use the WebUI for controlling the printer. If you still want a standalone touchscreen, then I recommend buying a BIQU PI TFT50 and installing KlipperScreen.

Prerequisites

Install Raspberry Pi Imager, PuTTY, WinSCP & Notepad++

The first step in the Klipper installation is to install the Raspberry Pi Imager. You must first download the imager. It will guide you through the process of flashing and installing the Mainsail OS on your Raspberry Pi. It is the recommended method on the Mainsail website, and it quickly installs the OS on the Pi. Visit the Raspberry Pi website and download the Raspberry Imager that is appropriate for your operating system.

Next, you will need additional software to interact with your Pi and configure the Mainsail OS for your Ender 3 S1 Pro. No installation guides here. I assume you can handle this. You will need to download and install PuTTY, WinSCP, and Notepad++
